We often think of psychology as a study of the mind, even though the ancient Greek word “psyche” means “spirit,” “soul,” or “breath of life.” We experience the world not just via our minds but also our hearts, and perhaps more. Thus, therapy to me is more of an art than a science. Exploring your internal world can be both wondrous and terrifying–just like art, and just like life itself. There is great value in doing so alongside another fellow human traveler who has not only delved deep within their own self but who can also gently guide you to self-discover with an approach of curiosity, grace, and self-compassion. For me, the greatest purpose is to explore and love everything and everyone important to me, including myself. Ever since someone first guided me thus, I knew I wanted to do the same for others. Taking the first step into the unknown is the hardest part, but also the most exciting!
Education & Training
Jeremy Cairl earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgetown University in 2013, minoring in Theology. He earned his Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University and became a registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist in 2026.
In the time between his undergraduate and graduate studies, Jeremy was an educator in Los Angeles, first as a credentialed Special Education classroom teacher for students with “Mild/Moderate” special needs (2013-2018), and then as a private tutor and mentor (2018-2026). During these years he gained extensive experience working with individuals with neurodivergence, emotional struggles, interpersonal / relationship challenges, and/or executive functioning issues. It was during this period Jeremy learned how educational / academic challenges were so often rooted in emotional and familial dynamics, which is what inspired him to begin his training and career to become a therapist and help guide others to explore and heal from such root issues.
Connection is key, and that has been true for all work Jeremy has ever done. His gift and his highest priority are one and the same: to build and constantly maintain a meaningful and supportive relationship in which you feel safe and comfortable to express it all, if and whenever you feel ready to do so. He believes that it is only within the context of such a meaningful and caring relationship that any significant exploration or growth can occur.
Jeremy joined Downtown Mind Wellness in August 2026. He is a registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT165153) under the supervision of Dr. Lindsay Kramer (PSY29525).
