In dealing with stressors, life events, challenging relationships, and traumatic experiences we develop patterns to keep ourselves safe and sane; which often also limits us. The challenge is unlearning these narratives and trusting our innate wisdom. When we feel safe, secure, and accepted for who we are we can begin the process of shedding what doesn’t work for us, while exploring our untapped potential. I believe you are the master of your story; and I hope to create a safe space where we can gain insight about your inner battles, develop skills to enhance holistic development, and realize the potential of your authentic self.
Education & Training
Dr. Ashok is a licensed Clinical Psychologist. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology and Economics; and Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Christ University in Bangalore, India. She received her Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D) from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2018, specializing in Clinical Forensic Psychology. Dr. Ashok’s focus has been on working with adults and couples experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress related to readjustment or re-integration, grief or bereavement, substance use, and management of personality traits. She welcomes anyone struggling with relational conflict, interpersonal attachment styles, or challenges related to identity including gender, sexuality, race, culture, and nationality. Dr. Ashok has worked extensively with perpetrators and victims of sexual abuse and sexual trauma (since 2016) and continues to provide trauma informed therapy to individuals with a history of sexual, physical or emotional abuse. She believes, a therapeutic alliance is unique in its scope, and is based on trust, understanding and mutual respect for each other’s autonomy. She hopes to create a safe and inviting space where she can foster a supportive therapeutic relationship. Dr. Ashok joined Downtown Mind Wellness in November, 2023.
