Michelle Farivar, Psychologist
I believe that each person has an inborn “lifeforce” that naturally guides us towards wellness and vitality; it’s the inner wisdom, intuition and passion, the push that sends us towards “the answer”. Unfortunately, some hurtful experiences may come to block access to the lifeforce. As a result, we may feel trapped in a ‘deja-vu’-like repetition of unwanted experiences, be they unwanted relationships, a common feeling of depletion, or stubborn behaviors and habits. My goal as your therapist is to help guide you in rekindling your natural internal drive towards wellness and vitality in all things. Some of my special interests include substance abuse, trauma, (e.g.. intimate partner violence, sexual abuse, complex relational trauma, as in chronically difficult childhood experiences), first generation and acculturation issues, anxiety, depression, women’s, men’s and relationships issues, creativity, self-esteem, and entertainment industry issues.

When something interrupts the healthy flow and functioning of our life force, we are thrown off balance. We lose a healthy relationship with ourselves, as well as our direction and intuition. We might find ourselves in unwanted situations, painful relationships, and feel as though a recurring theme or experience follows us everywhere. I believe before we can heal and change, we need to find or create a deep sense of safety, calm, and assuredness. Next, is addressing our relationships to others and ourselves, including our bodies. In the integration of these key ingredients is where we may find the keys that unlock the rigidities in our lives. Life doesn’t have to be painful. Let’s get you tapped back into the source.
